Gosh! It’s been a while…since we were last together in November, my life literally turned upside down!
Not in a tragic, awful way…more in a “have to move out of my house with the kiddo and dog” kinda way!
The day before Thanksgiving my sweet, hard working hubby began our floor refinishing project…and bless his heart, it turned out to be a MUCH more laborious undertaking than he planned. Mostly due to the fact that the machine he rented for this purpose was not functioning properly…however, as familiar as he is with this type of thing, being a construction guru and all, he’d never used this particular one before and had no idea it was supposed to be working more efficiently than it was. So a few weeks goes by and we finally swap it out, and learn that it just wasn’t working well at all in the first place…had he had the second machine the whole time? Well….things woulda worked out a tad bit differently. But during most of this time, the house was packed into a couple of rooms, and my office, including computer, was dismantled. And honest to goodness…I’ve never seen so much dust in my life
The whole project took a toll on everyone, but I kept reminding myself and my daughter that as miserable as we felt, it could have been much worse…we could have been my husband, first of all…working on the floors with the machine day in and day out. Or we could have had no home at all…dusty or not, we still had a roof over our heads, and money for take out, since I sure couldn’t cook!
Then it came time for the varnishing…so I packed up Zoe and Sandy Sue and we headed to my Mom’s for a few days..away from the smell and the sticky, in an effort to keep from messing up all the work he was getting done. And boy, after that it was just a whirlwind! Get home, get the house put back together, get decorated for Christmas and leave just a few days later for our trip to Great Wolf Lodge and to visit family….oh, and getting sick on the last day of our trip was also on the agenda too….somehow I just can’t manage to add my typical smiley face at the end! We had our family Christmas with my husband’s side of the family last Sunday, and after that, it seemed like we were all dropping like flies. I count among my blessings, though, that I was not ill until the day before we left. The day after we got home, it hit the rest of my sweet family. I’m feeling mostly recovered, as is Zoe..but my poor hubby is still fighting the chills and the fever…it comes and goes…and just when he thinks he is better, it comes back again.
So sweet friends, as you can see, this was a crazy six weeks or so for me…I am desperate to be back on some sort of a schedule…but am thankful that I planned out “back to school” date for January 7th
After this, I need just a little bit of down time…and time to organize my thoughts for 2013! This week I plan to share a little bit about our trip with all of you, and share some of our goals for this year…..
And how was your CHRISTmas?

wow, I understand the packing stuff because I am moving from my current location to another within 4-6 weeks. So packing up the house is what I am doing this week.
